Retirement Communities and Global Marketing

I came across Luma Living, a development of luxury retirement communities in Mexico, that serves as an excellent example of real estate development marketing which I thought was worth sharing . Phase 1 is not scheduled until September of 2009, but they are already beginning to market the development.

The Luma Living Retirement Communities in Mexico are located on Banderas Bay, just on the edge of Puerto Vallerta, an up and coming city on the coast of Mexico with views of the ocean and luxurious surroundings. The development features everything from a membership to the area’s most prestigious golf course to concierge services to a Well Being Center that includes exercise, classes, and other activities for residents.

Luma, developed by California based Front Porch Development Company, may be located in Mexico, but their target market is actually towards U.S. based residents looking for an active adult lifestyle and luxurious retirement. They offer the resources and information U.S. citizens need to know about buying a home in Mexico, including a detailed explanation of what a Fideicomiso is and what rights the buyer has under Mexico’s real estate laws. They also have taken special care to note the property conforms to ADA standards set by the U.S. and will have English speaking doctors on staff in their health clinic for residents, ensuring that these Mexico Retirement Communities offer everything retirees may need in the future if their health should become a concern.

Their focus on appealing to U.S. residents is an excellent reminder that marketing for new real estate developments should not just be done locally – but nationally and internationally as well. If you have some time, check out their Retirement Communities Mexico website.

Luma looks like a gorgeous community. But seems the communities surfacing in Mexico and other countries targeting active adults/seniors, while they claim a lower cost of living, the properties themselves are quite expensive. Many range in the million dollar range. Little steep for most. Beautiful, yes.
