With Halloween just a week and few days away, I thought I would share some Halloween prospecting and marketing thoughts for real estate agents to help you gain some more clients and exposure this fall.
Most of these thoughts are very simple to implement, and don’t cost a lot of money to do. Here are our best Halloween Marketing Thoughts:
1. Host a Party: If you have a farm or live in a neighborhood with a reasonable amount of houses, why not throw a Halloween party? To help diffuse the costs, see if there are other business professionals who may be interested in co-hosting it with you. You can choose to make it kid friendly or for adults only and as serious or silly as you want it to be (Just make sure you seem professional at all times!) Serve up Halloween themed snacks, give out goodie bags (with your business card of course!) and set up a few activities such as pumpkin face painting or bobbing for apples. It will be a memorable event and hopefully give you an opportunity to meet more people and network.
2. Trick or Treat: If you have a farm, you can go door to door with a small bag of Halloween candies (you may want to skip ones with nuts in case they may have allergies) and other similiar Halloween farming materials. If you will be passing out candy to the kids trick or treating this year, why not attach your business card or a special message to the candy? (If you live on a rural street you could also always pass the candy out at one of your listings if the house is vacant). Most parents inspect the kids candy and will likely see it and remember it.
3. Send E-Cards: Any holiday is a fantastic excuse to send something out to your email marketing list and there are many Halloween ecards available or you can even design your own to send to those in your email address book.
4. Have a Spooky Open House: Haunted houses are always well loved around Halloween time, so if you have a listing that would be excellent for turning into a haunted open house and the seller approves, why not give haunted tours of the listing? Temporary decorations and the help of other agents can help make this a huge success. You may even want to team up with the whole office and have a “bus tour” of a few homes that have been made spooky for one day. Afterwards serve refreshments at the office. (Obviously this is one to check with your broker about first to check on liability and other issues!)
5. Get Your Blog Involved: If you have a real estate blog, you can do many things to help make it appealing for Halloween. You could post local trick or treat times, local Halloween events and attractions, or even some of your favorite Halloween traditions. You can also have printable coloring pages and have the kids bring it into your office for a free treat or other similar promotion.
With a small creativity, the options are endless for real estate agent Halloween marketing thoughts! What are some things you have done in the past or are thinking about doing this year?

If anyone does a haunted open house, I would love to see some pictures. Great idea, especially if the home was in an area you were farming. People would not soon forget you.
