Recently I’ve been in the situation where I’ve been waiting in a lot of places. Some were doctor’s offices, others the dentist, some the car mechanic’s waiting room, and various others. And as I sat there I realized how under utilized waiting areas were for advertising opportunities. So today’s post is all about finding ideas for taking advantage of advertising opportunities in waiting rooms and other “waiting places”.
By taking advantage of waiting room marketing and advertising, you can have your materials presented in front of a broad range of people with potential interest in your services. It’s important that your brochures or flyers be professionally designed and that you have a business networking relationship with the waiting room owner established in order for this to work. If you don’t already have a strong network of other professionals, you can also inquire about paid advertising spots in an office space, as many different places are beginning to rent end table space, corners, and even the walls for additional revenue sources. Depending on your location, there may even already be agencies that handle all of the coordination of finding waiting rooms for you.
Here are some ideas for places to take advantage of advertising in waiting rooms or areas:
Doctors’ Offices: Be sure you also remember dentists, mental health professionals, and specialists.
Garages: Anyone who’s sat in a garage waiting for their car to be repaired can tell you that the reading material gets old pretty fast. Check out car dealerships, tire & oil places, and other general mechanics that typically have a lot of customers waiting.
Flower Shops: Florists are called for a variety of occasions, and sometimes these occasions may even coincide with the need of a real estate agent (home for newlyweds or handling of an estate, for example).
Restaurants: This can be a great place to set up a small display on the counter or in the lobby, especially if it is a popular restaurant and take advantage of waiting room advertising.
Hair Salons: Known for gossip and regular customers, waiting room advertising and marketing in a hair salon can be an excellent source for referrals and business.
Laundromat: People have to wait for their clothes to wash and dry, so it can be a great source of traffic if you are allowed to set up a few brochures or post flyers on their bulletin board. This can be a very successful waiting room advertising and marketing opportunity as many laundromat customers are current renters or potential move-up buyers.
These are just a few ideas to help you get started with the idea of waiting room advertising and marketing. Have you tried waiting room marketing? I’d love to hear your success story with it or any additional ideas for waiting room marketing.
