Real Estate Marketing Blog

Keyword Luv

Upstart Agent is a do-follow blog, encouraging & rewarding commenters with backlinks for anyone who leaves a comment.

We are now also a Keyword Luv blog, which enables you to leave your name AND get a keyword with the comment you leave. You can learn all about the Keyword Luv Plug-in here.

All you have to do is write your name in the name field like this: Your Name@Your Keyword (Example: Chelle@Real Estate Marketing)

Then write a MEANINGFUL COMMENT (spam, “fake” comments, and otherwise inappropriate comments will be deleted!) Also, I should note that I own SEVERAL websites – so if you write a comment here just for a little keyword luv – please don’t go jumping around to other keyword luv sites and leaving the identical comment. I’ll notice it pretty quick!

Anyone else using this plug-in? What are your thoughts on it?

Update: Thanks to a ton of spam, you will need to leave 5 meaningful comments in order to take advantage of keyword luv here. Also, since people were only reading and commenting on this post, I’ve now disabled comments here. Go to the UpstartAgent Homepage and leave a comment on one of the newer posts please!! I love offering keyword luv, but don’t abuse us, okay? :)

First thanks for the entrecard drop. Secondly I use this plugin on most of my blogs along with commentluv and nofollow free.

    Heya,
I have been hearing a lot about this plugin at the moment. I think now that I have *finally* got my template working properly (after spending $150 on getting it fixed) I might give this a whirl.

Have you found any problems with it so far?

I haven’t had any issues with it so far!

I think it makes it easier for people to seem like they are less of keyword stuffers for the dofollow blogs :)

Activates like any other wordpress plug-in :) Working good for me with wp 2.6 too :)

I am new to blogging and have been trying to get a consensus of what people are doing and what’s working well…..I will be trying this out and will let you know what I think. Thanks for the tip!

Heya, thanks for the heads up. I am going to put this on my list of plugins to install when I do a series of upgrades tonight.

Thanks for the heads up, I look forward to giving it a go.

I can’t still get the picture of how it works where should I put my anchor text if ever I have to post a comment.

  8. Posted July 28, 2008 at 6:57 am | Permalink

if you want to put your anchor text in, instead of putting
“Adier Barrin” in the name field you should type
“Adier Barrin@YourAnchorText” (of course without the “”)

I love this plugin and I shared these to all my friends.

For starters, I really appreciate bloggers who can see the value in, basically, trading backlinks for content. Of course, that depends on visitors doing the right freakin’ thing and actually leaving valuable comments!
I was wondering if anyone knew this from an SEO perspective- is the value of the backlink diminished when you get a large number of links leaving a particular page? I’m wondering if I’ve been chasing after a pr boost with keywordluv, but maybe I’m not getting as big as a boost as I would have thought. Any experiences?

Your PR depends on a lot of things Chris – the site linking to you should be related otherwise it might be seen as a “link farm” in google’s eyes…it also depends what the pr of the blog linking to you is – it would take about 555 0 PR blog links as opposed to 4-5 PR 5 blog links.

Having a lot of unrelated outgoing links from your site can also make a difference.

Hope that answers you question Chris :) Let me know if it doesn’t.

This plugin has changed the way I do things. Now that I can get a litle anchor text return on my meanderings I am happy to meander. Something I formerly would feel guilty for doing (because I had so much to do) is now something I can legitimately budget in time for and know I’m getting a return. Thanks for being a part of the movement.

This is a clever idea. First I heard of it.

This is really nice of you to include Keyword Luv in your comments. I’ve seen a number of dofollow blog comment sites but I’ve never heard of this. I think it will really increase partcipation from users since they get a little luv in return. Anyway, I will add to plug in to my own blog as soon as i can find my programmers number!

I agree. This is an awesome feature and a fair reward for those who take the time to actually post a real, human comment.

Nice plugin. I think im going to use it in the future. This is a good reward for good commenters.

    I love this plugin.

I am currently working on setting up some blogs where I will definatly use it. Once they are up, i will write a comment with the urls

This is a great plug-in, though unfortunately i can’t use it to my blogger’s blog. But will definitely try it to one of my WP. Good for genuine commentators!

Unfortunately you cant use on blogger blogs.
This is great for people to get more keywords.
    Thank you.

Nice blog with a great Keyword Luv plug-in. I installed the same plug-in on my wheel site blog and it really helps to get people involved in participating in the blog but the downside is that I get a lot of one word comments and spam comments but what can you do! Anyways, giving some interesting comments and participating in various blogs can be fun!

    Great content, great plug-in!

  23. Posted December 12, 2008 at 2:17 am | Permalink

I decided to put it on my other blog and I will setup this tonight. This will be my Christmas act of saying thank you for my readers. ;)

  24. Posted December 29, 2008 at 11:31 pm | Permalink

I recently installed this plugin on one of my new blogs but couldn’t get it to work right. If you have any suggestions for me I would like to hear them.

  25. Posted December 30, 2008 at 9:25 pm | Permalink

I also enabled nofollow and keywordluv. The main thing I don’t let get through are auto blog comments which are very obvious. Other than that I think this is a good movement and helps everyone.

  26. Posted December 30, 2008 at 10:14 pm | Permalink

    Jack Clarke,
What do you mean by “auto blog comments”? Do you mean like the Viagra type stuff, or something more subtle? Do you use a filter, or do you manually prune them?

  27. Posted January 7, 2009 at 3:17 pm | Permalink

Keyword Luv is a great plugin, and I think it definatly will help people find your blog. People search for “Keyword Luv”, and then get directed to your blog and want to comment. Great idea.

Thats grt, Thanks for the info. Hope you bring such useful info for us in future also :-) Thanks again.

I’ve been using the keyword luv plugin on a few of my blogs and its kind of a bitter sweet experience.. Alot of spam but every once in a while I make a new friend so I guess it all evens out in the end right? Its all about networking…

  31. Posted January 30, 2009 at 6:37 pm | Permalink

Keyword luv is one of the better plugins. Some sites have follow links and some use no follow so make sure the sites use follow or they do not help your page.

  32. Posted February 4, 2009 at 8:55 am | Permalink

Keyword luv is a cool plugin but it was causing problems with my theme so I had to remove it and stick with No Follow Free. Which is another type of do follow plugin.

  33. Posted February 26, 2009 at 9:28 am | Permalink

I like the idea of keyword luv and can see how it encourages visits and comments, but how many people out there are just flicking around between blogs, leaving comments for backlinks??

  34. Posted February 26, 2009 at 7:16 pm | Permalink

As ususal, I am ;ate to the party, but thanks for the Luv, and I’ll be installing soonest.

  35. Posted March 2, 2009 at 1:02 am | Permalink

Thanks for the insightful article. I’ve been using commentluv to foster more commenting on my real estate blog for Colorado but haven’t experimented with keywordluv. Although after reading your article I think it makes good sense!

Have you had a noticeable increase in your readership or commenting after installing keywordluv?

  36. Posted March 3, 2009 at 1:51 am | Permalink

    Ok – I have 2 questions:

    1) why are 100% of all the so called “keywordLuv” links all nofollows on this site?

    2) what is your opinion so far about the “connect/content” link at the bottom of the page – is it worth the 12 bucks a month?

    Thanks
