FIND Tip #4 – Keeping Your Farm

This is the 4th post in our FIND series.

Now that we’ve gone over the basics of finding your farm, introducing yourself to them, and of course thoughts on what to give to your farm, we’re going to talk a small bit about how to keep your farm your territory and staying loyal to you.

Your plot to meet with them often, give them useful information, and of course sending direct mail or an email campaign is excellent. But after so long (usually within a year or so), you’ll need a few more thoughts to keep things fresh and exciting with them.

Here are some thoughts for things you can do to say thank you to your farm and keep things fresh:

Neighborhood Garage Sale:You can sponsor a neighborhood garage sale by making and distributing flyers, making signs, paying for an ad, and even distributing balloons to the participating neighbors on the day of the event.
Make a Neighborhood Website: Sponsoring and making a neighborhood website can be a fantastic way for the members to interact with each other online. You can have forums, make it password protected for their security, and of course regularly update it with relevant neighborhood and township information.
Ice Cream Social: You can either choose to work things out with a neighborhood ice cream parlor, or host it somewhere locally for your farm where you provide all the goodies for a free ice cream treat to delight in with their neighbors and friends.
Host a free seminar People like free seminars. Invite your farm to learn more on decoration tips or home improvement to add more value to their home, refinancing or investing seminars, careers in real estate (see if your broker might even give you a split for anyone you recruit!), safety classes, or anything else you reckon they might delight in.
Sporting Events: Arrange for group discount rates and host a tailgating party before the huge game.
Amusement Park Picnic Again, find out group discount rates and reserve a pavillion and provide lunch for the neighborhood to go to a local amusement park.

These are just a few examples of many other creative ways you can keep yourself involved with your farm. Have any other thoughts? Feel free to share them in the comments below. Next week we’ll be talking about tracking your farm to make sure the activities you choose are the most successful and profitable.
